John and amazement

 Abundant life super-abounds in quantity and quality, beyond measure, excellent, complete. 

Amazed - ekstasis - displaced out of normal state of being or thinking 

The things that amazed Christ were belief and disbelief. 

John wrote John in his 90's.  4:7 says Beloved, let us love one another.
He was a son of thunder, and belief in Christ is what changed him, and he stayed at the cross.
